April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her enthusiasm for the art of songwriting. April Lockhart composed her debut song, Different at age of 12. As a teenager, April committed a large amount of time in writing music ideas and practicing musical skills. In the following months she began to take writing trips together with her dad on trips to LA and NY. April also began to integrate other relevant topics into the Take my Hand song for some of her friends, like peer-pressure problems and teenage suicide. Lockhart has a partnership with the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry with an increasing following of her own. It's true that she was born without a left hand and that makes her unique. However, that's not the only unique thing about her. In the end, Lockhart's profile doesn't shy away from her disability, but she doesn't focus on the issue either. What message is it trying to convey? The message? That we each contain multitudes, that our bodies and identities may not be as they appear. Lockhart in a video message from Nashville's home, states that I don't intend to allow this to define me. I'm greater than the physical person I am. This doesn't influence my day-to-day life. I carry on my business as usual and have developed my own ways to adapt. This is a major component of my daily life, therefore it's important to discuss the subject. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart is truly an inspiration for this aspect. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body and sometimes being unsure about wearing particular types of clothes which accentuated the arms of her. She now wears whatever she wants and posts photos of herself wearing those clothes to the internet with a sense of pride. She says that self-love is a journey. I'm not certain if it will ever be over. This applies to everyone regardless of their degree of self-confidence.
